Outstanding work from the Gamma Chapter.  Below is a section from the StarPress in Muncie where readers can nominate their Star Performers in the community.

The reports in the news are depressing. Students in trouble on the Internet, using drugs, committing crimes and demonstrating no respect. I want to report the men of Delta Gamma Iota fraternity provide a positive role model for students at Ball State University. These “angels of Ashland Avenue” came to my rescue when the concrete steps on my front porch deteriorated. The steps were dangerous, as is evident in the fact that both my daughter and I fell due to the rubble. The men of Delta Gamma Iota removed the old steps. Then they built forms that would support the new concrete needed to create the new steps. Many of the frat’s members were needed to remove old steps, build forms, mix the concrete by hand and apply the finish work. At least 20, 80-pound bags of concrete were used. This project would not have been attempted without them. As a Christian fraternity, they are involved in various projects in Muncie.

These heroes are ambassadors for the university and exemplify the students that are our future leaders. They are a needed example of what is good in America. Chris Peters, director of special events, brought his experience as a construction worker to the project. Delta Gamma Iota will accept no payment for their good deeds. I am confident that these future leaders are going to make a difference. These men are truly a dynamic force in the Christian tradition.
